Excellent article- thank you! I take both magnesium glycinate and Vitamin D. I eat lots of the foods you list. I take tamoxifen and have a Herceptin Hylecta injection every three weeks. I find that magnesium helps with muscle cramping that tends to accompany the Herceptin. My experience has been that only acupuncture helps with the hot flashes, but who knows, maybe they are not as bad as they could be . . . Ugh!

Hi Lessly, You're welcome and thank you for your kind words. I'm glad that you are having success reducing the symptoms from your medication with magnesium and that acupuncture helps with your hot flashes. I am a fan of acupuncture!

Thank you for this information. I am in perimenopause and take Magnesium Glycinate at night to help with sleep. It has been helping me stay asleep. My mother who is post-menopausal takes it as well to help with leg cramps and sleep. I’ve heard magnesium l-threonate can be beneficial for brain/mood health. Has anyone tried this or taken it with glycinate? Thank you again for your research.

I'm not sure another form of magnesium would make much of a difference in terms of symptoms. I couldn't find any information that said one form relieves symptoms any better than another.

I took magnesium l-threonate for several months to perhaps help with my long COVID cognitive symptoms, but I didn’t notice a difference and a third-party reviewed brand of it is pretty pricey. Perhaps I wasn’t on it for long enough? I switched to magnesium oxide because another one of my LC issues is chronic constipation, though it didn’t move the needle on that either despite the literature saying it can cause diarrhea and stomach upset. I’m also menopausal and I feel like it’s helpful for my sleep and some of the other reasons cited in this post.

Thank you Amy. These supplements can be pricey for sure. My mother takes magnesium citrate to help with digestive issues/constipation. Maybe that form can help you. Thank you again 🤍

Really great article. I knew magnesium was an important mineral but didn’t realize to the extent you covered. Thank you. 🙏
