Hi Katie, I probably should have said fortified plant milks! Some plant milks have added calcium to the levels of cow's milk, while others don't. It's inconsistent. I'm actually going to change what I said in the post. Thanks for the shout out. By the way, do you take supplements?
I do. I take calcium, vitamin D, B12, and vitamin C, as well as glucosamine chondroitin. I’m taking thyroid medication and anastrozole. I’m a pretty healthy eater overall, but now I’m thinking I need to see a RDN at my oncologist’s office to figure out what else I need and how to balance it all.
Thank you for this information. I have RLS. My iron level is about half what is recommended. My provider recommended an iron supplement but I didn’t tolerate it and didn’t want to get too much. I don’t get everything I need from my diet so I’ve been doing a children’s vitamin. I am back to Fred Flintstone that my grandmother gave me over 50 years ago. I also take CoQ10. What are your thoughts on that?
How much iron did your provider recommend daily? By the way, when I counseled pregnant women, many of them couldn't tolerate the huge doses of iron in prenatal supplements and relied on children's vitamins.
Can you share which brand of multi you are taking?
I take Centrum Silver 50+. I hope that helps!
Thank you very much. Yes it does. Love your book. 😍
Thank you for your kind words about The Menopause Diet Plan! I appreciate it and will relay your comment to my co-author.
Awesome summary! I need to be more consistent with calcium supplements…
Yes, you do.
I always wonder why almond milk is not listed as a good source of calcium. The almond milk we buy has more calcium than cow’s milk.

It never hurts to go over all the supplements you take with a RDN to see how they work with medications and with your diet.
Hi Jacqueline, by RLS do you mean restless leg syndrome? Just want to clarify! Thanks, Liz
